As you might have seen in my YouTube video all about fall trends, fall is very “texture-centric”. Yes, I made up “texture-centric”, but I think it describes how important different textures are to fall trends. One trend that I didn’t mention in that video was corduroy. This fabric kind of made a surprise appearance because I didn’t see it popping up in August, but as soon as September hit all the shops put out their take on this trend. From shoes, to pants, to jackets, you can dress head to toe in corduroy if you really want to. I personally love this fall fabric. I think it’s a toasty texture with vintage vibes that adds a bit of earthiness to any look. If you want to see how I styled one of my favorite pieces in this fall fabric you can check that out here!
Because corduroy had a late start to this season, I feel like we’ll be seeing it throughout winter into next fall, so stock up on your favorite pieces now. I love pairing corduroy pants with a graphic tee for a vintage vibe or a satin blouse to add a light contrasting texture to make the outfit stand out.

October has flown by. It feels like only a few weeks ago I was getting excited for fall to begin. Now we are deep in fall and I want it all to slow down a bit.
This month I only had a few favorites, but they were good ones. These were favorites I reached for over and over again because they were so tried and true. I have a little bit of everything to show you, from fashion, beauty, and home. Fall means warm tones, cozy textures, and dark nail polish. I love dark nail polish, but I try not to paint my nails dark all year-round. However, in the fall and winter every week there is a new dark hue on my nails with the occasional dusty neutral. There is just something about dark nail polish especially in the colder months that just works with every look and every mood.
This deep blue navy color is the newest color in my collection because I ran out of one on my favorites (Sally Hansen Dark Huemoor), and wanted to try something new. I love the H&M polish formula because its smooth and pigmented in two coats. This color is the perfect navy because it’s dark without looking black.
This is another H&M polish, but I have had this one for a while. This polish survived my major polish clear out during my declutter this summer. It’s like a dusty berry color. Not quite deep and vampy, but also not a spring pink either. This is my go-to when I don’t know what to put on my nails.
This is what I reach for when I need a break from dark and dreary nail polish shades. It’s a light pinky lilac with a super subtle pink shimmer. I tried to get it to show up in the photos, but it was difficult to say the least. It’s a barely there neutral that makes me feel soft and feminine when I wear it. The best part is the formula can actually get opaque. My biggest pet peeve for nail polish is applying four coats and the color still coming out sheer. This is one of the big reasons this light color makes the cut.
Dark purple is like a power color. I feel so chic when I wear dark purple polish. Don’t ask me why—it’s just how I feel. It’s a sleek easy color for me to go to in the fall. Somehow it goes with everything. Also, the shine on these Nails Inc. polishes is gorgeous.
If you read last month’s favorites then you probably saw me rave about this. This is the first green polish I have ever worn on my nails consistently. I usually buy green polish with high hopes and then never wear it more than once. This fall Calypso has been a staple. The best part of this formula is how fast it dries. I can paint my nails (base coat, top coat, and color) and be in bed by ten.

Layering is essential during the fall. It’s freezing in the morning and warm by the afternoon. You need to be able to adjust your look through the day. Here are all my tips to layer up your style this fall!
Start With a Light Fabric to Incorporate Texture and/or Print
Print will be easiest to add in a lighter fabric as you can layer under or over it, showing the print a little or a lot. I love using pieces like printed dresses and button-down tops for this layer.
Pile On Something Cozy
This can be a fine knit turtleneck underneath or a chunkier knit on top. This layer will be adding warmth to the look.
Mix Textures
This is where it depends on the outfit you are going for. I always like to mix at least two textures or fabrics when I am putting together an outfit. Here are a few of my favorites: Satin and sweater, sequin and denim, chiffon and corduroy, and (faux) leather and really anything.
Play with hemlines, lengths, and proportion
This is important to make sure you are seeing all the layers once you are finished layering. An example of this would be an oversized cropped sweater layered over a printed tunic-length satin top with some ankle-length faux leather pants.
Shoes can be a layer
Shoes are playing a huge part in the trends this season. Shoe options are the best they are have been in years. You can basically get any style shoes in any color you can think of. To create more dimension in your look, add a shoe that you can layer with the rest of the outfit. Let’s use the example from above: add a pair of velvet thigh-high boots or patent ankle boots and you have two completely different looks.

As you can probably tell from my outfit posts from the last few months, I love blazers. They are my go to when I don’t know what to wear—I love trying to pair them with different pieces and prints and colors. This look in particular is probably my favorite and easiest to recreate.
The scale of the prints. The scale of the dots is pretty small compared to the oversized houndstooth print on the blazer, and the contrasting scale really takes this look up a notch. Also, if you’re not tired of me talking about this polka dot shirt from Target you’re in luck, because it’s still one of my favorite shirt styles of all time! I even bought it in another print!
The dark wash jeans with only a raw hem keeps this look sleek while keeping you focused on the top. If jeans don’t work for your office, a soft pair of wide-leg pants will be an easy swap to keep this outfit looking polished while adding a new dimension with the play on proportions.
I kept the accessories basic, tying back to the black in both prints on the top and the blazer. The boots skimmed the hem of my pants to leave only a sliver of ankle showing for a more casual look. If you chose the wide-leg pant instead of jeans for the office, a pair of mules would be the perfect compliment.
Start with a blazer. Blazers are all over the place right now so it will be easiest to find one that fits your style and figure out the rest of the outfit from there.
On to the shirt. This is where you need to choose a print either scaled up or down based on style of blazer you got. Here is where you can add other details too, such as ruffles, ties, volume, etc.
Bottoms next! This is where you either go up another level or just finish the print mixing. If I was going all out on this look, I might have added a mid-sized striped pant that also had black in it. If you are happy with your level of print mixing, go with a solid color bottom that is either a neutral color or the base color of the print you were mixing.
Finally, the shoes. I don’t usually print mix my whole outfit, so I would definitely stick with solid black shoes (or whatever base color you choose).

We’ve hit sweater weather people! I have officially worn a sweater and now I am on the hunt for the perfect cozy pieces to fit into my wardrobe. I roamed the internet and searched every corner of the virtual sales floor to find the sweaters that will keep you warm, cozy and chic this fall.
This is a season of color, and this includes your knitwear! Whether you love that bold true red or a more subdued green, you need to get away from neutrals and pop your fall look with some color.
I was a big fan of the slogan tee this past summer, as was the rest of the fashion world. As we move into fall I have been seeing more and more slogan sweaters. These are a fun way to add some personality to your look.
This is a big trend this season and I totally understand why. Who doesn’t want to wear what’s basically a blanket around and call it a sweater? If my whole body could be covered in sweater-like materials I would be okay with that—the bigger and baggier the better in my book. I love wearing oversized sweaters with a slinky skirt or a pair of skin tight faux-leather pants.
These embellished sweaters add a little sparkle to your look. Pearls, rhinestones, and metallic thread are just a few of the ways your sweaters can be embellished. Embroidery is also alive and well! It’s easy to find an embellishment that add that little something extra to your outfit while staying true to your personal style.
You need at least one fine knit sweater in your life for layering up. If you’ve got a strappy dress you love but it’s under 70 degrees, just layer a thin turtleneck underneath. Want to wear your favorite midi skirt? Throw on a thin V-neck sweater for a soft fall transitional look.
Fuzzy sweaters lend a bit more texture to your outfits, so mixing them with other textures is something you can do that can’t necessarily be done with other sweaters. These textured yarns also tend to be even warmer than your average acrylic sweaters.
Who doesn’t want a sweater down to their knees (or longer)? Didn’t I mention earlier how I want my entire body to be in a blanket-like burrito all day?! Enough said.
If oversized isn’t enough for you, finding an extremely thick sweater will fulfill all your needs. The thicker the yarn, the warmer the sweater (unless were talking cashmere, which is pretty darn warm even in a thinner knit). I think a sweater always looks cool under a coat or on its own with a pair of skinny jeans. That look portrays an effortless, cozy, chicness that we all want.
This is definitely a go-to outfit for me. Simple and easy, but with a few fun details that make it special.
First, I went with the basics of a tee and jeans; however, I played with proportions because the top is a fitted ribbed material while the jeans are a looser fit mom jean. I love the combo of blue and black, so these pair perfectly together.
The shoes are another all-time favorite for me and I try to experiment with them by wearing them with a ton of different looks (you’ve probably seen these featured a few times if you watch my YouTube channel). They were the most painful shoes I had ever put on my feet. But, after two or three wears, and with the help of probably an entire box of band-aids, they are now one of my most comfortable pairs of shoes.
Finally, I saved the best for last. This suede motorcycle jacket. Can we just take a moment here?

Suede is one of those materials that scares the crap out of me. There are two sides to suede. There’s the gorgeous, soft, elegant material side we all know and love. And there’s the side that gets stained when you look at it wrong or it rains. This is the reason why I haven’t bought suede shoes in about 10 years. You are literally pounding the pavement watching your beautiful purchase turn grimey.
I have this fear with outerwear, but it’s not as bad as with shoes because you’re not literally wiping your suede outerwear pieces on the ground.
I digress…
When I saw this in store, I lost it. This color in this high-quality suede felt like something I would never get my hands on. It had the perfect timeless silhouette and the perfect autumnal color, aptly named “Spice.” As soon as I saw it I thought of about ten outfits that I could pair this with (comment if you want a post or video on this!).
However, as you may know, suede isn’t the cheapest material since it’s in the leather family (sorry, vegan friends!). The price was a little steep so I held off and just browsed Nordstrom’s website until it went out of stock.
Long story short—not sure if it was really that short—Luke secretly purchased this jacket for me for our anniversary! I was so blown away. I have been treating it like a baby since the day I got it. (If you have any tips on applying suede protectant, please comment below. I need all the help I can get.)
It hasn’t been cold enough to wear this so I have just been brainstorming all kinds of different outfits. I’m excited to layer this with blouses in the fall and then of course with giant chunky sweaters in the colder months.
